ITRDP

We are basically looking at a particular river basin’s water balance in a holistic way. By this I mean the external effects on surface, subsurface waters, and atmospheric humidity. These arise from natural processes and also human activity.

The goal must be, that in cooperation with those living there, to reshape the processes in the river basin so they are self-sustaining and improving water quality and the environmental state.

Based on this, the project covers agriculture, floodplain management, water management, forestry, waste management, wastewater treatment, transportation, energy management, urban development, the social situation of the people living there, and the development of financial sectors, in particular the role of insurance companies.

Only in this way, as a unified ecosystem within the framework of an international cooperation, within the hydrogeological boundaries of the river basin may we be able to support the living space of future generations.

I wish to note this as a thought provoking idea, that even specialized professional fields can fit organically into such a complex development initiative. The best confirmation of success would be when the positive results are experienced by those living there.

Our thoughts and actions should first be applied to the three European river basins, but we should develop it together. The end result will be solutions that are adaptable to any other river basin in any part of the world.

Regarding ZOOM meeting May 5th 2020:

It was also discussed that in order to unify the professional policy competencies it is necessary to create the previously discussed Focal Points. Creating these these legally and internationally is a priority task.

The three European river basins are the most urgent, as they are already projected together and will play an important role. The Consortium of these three Focal Points, even in the preparatory phase can formally invite experts from the other nine river basins in your professional work.
